The Hu is a Mongolian band that plays heavy metal/ folk metalwith Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, and includes Mongolian throat singing.
The band was aiming to release its first album in 2019, an album they
said they had worked on for seven years. Two videos on YouTube released
in the fall of 2018 had garnered over seven million views by January
2019, according to NPR.The album's title is Gereg, for a diplomatic passport from the time of Genghis Khan. The band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", hu being a Mongolian root word for "human".
